UK Electron Microscopy Center (EMC)

The Electron Microscopy Center is part of the Engineering College and is located in the basement of the ASTeCC Bldg. The Center serves the entire university community and industry locally and nationwide. The Center is a multi-user shared equipment center and operates on a cost recovery basis. During a typical year over 150 customers are served, providing services for over $18 million in grant funds.
Shared Experiment
- Microscopy (STEM/TEM, SEM, FE-SEM, ESEM, OIM, EDS, EELS, EFTEM)
- Computer Modeling (Diffraction Analysis, PDF database, Material Studio electronic structural analysis using UK supercomputer (DMOL3 and CASTEP) )
- Sample Preparation ( Jet Polishing, Ion Milling, Dimpling, Coating, etc.)
